blurry birthday

i celebrated my 25th birthday on a rooftop in omdurman with beet chocolate cake, homemade ginger ale, la roux, the xx and some dancing. i don't know that i ever gave much thought to where i'd be or what i'd be doing when i turned 25. if i did, i'm sure it never occurred to me that i'd be living in sudan. and yet, there i was and here i am. amazing.
