it was warm, that day

i've been slow to post, i know, but i have four rolls to get through now, so i should have a steady stream of new images for a bit. here are some from a lazy day at the river:

another holgarama -- from the pebbly shore

the lake in cross-processed slide film.

an adorable couple all hawk-eyed up.

a stack of pebbles we came across. no doubt some ancient formation.

i don't like this one as much as i'd hoped i would. the tops of the trees met the sky in a really beautiful way that day, but it doesn't translate nearly as well onto film -- even with cross-processed magic.

little russian dolls, lakeside

an experiment proposed by ms. casey parks (she's the one in the first (last?) polaroid).
i think we'll try it once more.

i was probably sweating when i took this picture. just thought you should know.

Photobucket
i was sweating during this one, too. i really hate sweating, but enjoy writing about it, apparently.

extended viewing

Photobucket
from the bluffs. again.

Photobucket
from the bluffs. again. in a weird (cool?) hue.

i took a roll of holgaramas a week or so ago. this is the only one that worked. sort of. the hardest part here, is getting the sections to overlap just right. i have a lot of repeat in each frame. but it's still kinda interesting, i think. you can click on the pictures above to get a closer look.

this was also the first time i used my fancy new scanner, only to find out the fancy new scanner was fine for negatives, but couldn't do basic colored photos. damn. gotta send it back. oh well. i have one other scanned-in photo for your potential viewing pleasure.

should have some new photos by wednesday -- shot with a new camera that i modified. and all by myself, no less.

all of these shots came out of the replacement pocket camera i picked up. still need to get used to its little intricacies. here it is in its black-and-white glory:

not sure what happened here. too bright, i suppose. still sort of interesting to look at though. i hope.

so, that's two rolls down. should have one more for you tomorrow ...

where the grass is green

just got a few rolls of film developed that have been floating around for a bit. here's the best shots from one of them:

look up

when i first started taking polaroids i'd get on these kicks. let's take pictures of flowers! no trees! and so it went. i've since settled on people (and other random bits). but for, oh, two days, i was going strong with pictures of the sky. it always looks so different:

don't blink

this is something i made a while back. polaroids, which i got into a couple summers back, were really my entry point into trick/ toy/ amateur photography. i ended up with so many (and my collection is still growing) that i decided this would be the best way to present them. watch closely:

if i had it to do over again, i'd adjust the timing a bit. but it was a first go at this sort of thing. i should have another stop-motion video for you all before too long.

also -- and this is important, people -- you can now leave comments. which i love -- no -- need.

let's dream away to some place beautiful

so, i recently bought one of those old-tyme Pocket Kodak No. 1 cameras from my favorite portland camera shop. i was warned there might be some slight light leaks. that means bits of light get into the camera body and play with your film. they're nice in that they add some character. turns out my camera had a lot of light leaks. here's what i ended up with:

the "red" hen house.

lauren and her argoflex.

in the mist.

i also played around with the colors on photoshop after getting the film developed. some of them were red-ish, when they probably should have had a cooler tone. the originals on right, edited on left:

i ended up returning my little Pocket No. 1 for a different model. the images were unique, but unpredictable. i'll follow up with pictures from the new, old-tyme camera once they're developed.
